About us
We are a private non-profit organization that regulates, monitors, disciplines and professionalizes the Colombian securities market.
We work together with the intermediaries of the securities and foreign exchange market, and in coordination with government authorities, to promote best practices, protect investors and enhance market transparency.

Our History
Self-regulation arose in Colombia from the market’s need to proactively raise its standards, to assure integrity, transparency and especially to increase investor confidence and trust.
This effort by market participants became a reality in 2006, when Autorregulador del Mercado de Valores de Colombia (AMV, the Colombian Securities Market Self-Regulatory Organization – SRO) was established, in the terms set out by Law 964/2005 and Decree 1565/2006 (currently incorporated in Decree 2555/2010). These laws define the functions of AMV and establish that those who engage in securities intermediation activities must self-regulate in order to be able to perform activities in this market.
In 2009, AMV’s General Meeting of Members recognized the importance of establishing a voluntary self-regulation framework for the foreign exchange market. As a result, on October 15, 2010, pursuant to Decree 039/2009, AMV launched this initiative
What we do:
Regulation: Along with our members, we develop regulations aimed at establishing best practices, clarifying regulatory gaps, and promoting a stronger and more developed market.
Supervision: With a preventive approach, we monitor the securities and foreign exchange markets in real time and conduct regular supervisory assessments of entities within the self-regulation framework. Our objective is to identify risks and prevent situations that could compromise market integrity and best practices.
Discipline: We seek to deter misconduct in the securities and foreign exchange markets through fair and effective disciplinary oversight.
Professionalization: We certify financial professionals who participate in activities related to the securities and foreign exchange markets in Colombia. We contribute to the professionalization of these markets through a certification process that ensures the competence of market participants. We also promote financial literacy among current and future investors through our Financial Education for All program.
